How can you test if your gateway anti-virus configured properly?

store

Recently I have installed a mail server with the ClamAV (free anti-virus toolkit for UNIX). It is easy to test if the mail server is working. We can test it by sending and receiving emails.

But what about the viruses? How can I test if the ClamAV is working properly? How can check if it is blocking the viruses?

We can send test viruses. GFI Labs has a free test service. You need to register with your mail address and you will get a confirmation mail. After you clicked on the confirmation link you will receive several test emails emails with viruses.

You can follow the mail.log file. If your configuration is good you will see several log messages regarding to the INFECTED emails.
